If you scrolled down this far, here's a little info on Dauntless. She is a 1980 Montgomery 23. There were only 19 or 20 Montgomery 23's ever built by Jerry Montgomery of Montgomery Marine. An additional 1 or 2 have been built by Nor'sea boats in the last few years, however the deck mold is completley different and the new boat is cutter rigged.
I wanted an M23 from the time I first saw one around 1986. I traveled to both coasts looking at M23's when I found them for sale (only twice) and ended up purchasing Dauntless in Florida (We live in Arizona!). She had no trailer, had been kept in the water for most of her 25 years, was blistered, and in need of some TLC. That was my initial assesment anyway. Turned out she was in need of a lot more than a little TLC. But, after transporting her all the way to her new home in Lake Havasu City, AZ and 9 months of serious work she's back in the saddle, so to speak. We sail her on our own lake here in Havasu in the fall, winter, and spring. Summertime she goes on the trailer and we take her to cooler places like the Southern Califonria coast and this year all the way to the Pacific Northwest for a week long cruise!
